The Changing Face of Agriculture October Meeting From preparing food for space missions to employing the latest high-tech methods on the farm, the face of Agriculture is changing. Northwest Harris County Aggie Moms will hear from Dr. Joe Townsend, the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Associate Dean for Students at their October 9 meeting.
Dr. Joe, as he is widely known, teaches more than 2000 students leadership and agriculture each year. He also serves as the scholarship coordinator for the College.
The recipient of many honors, Dr. Joe has been honored with the TAMU Former Students Association University Teaching Award; TAMU Former Students Association University Student Relations Award; TAMU John Koldus Award for Student Development; TAMU Honor Professor-College of Agriculture and Life Sciences; and the TAMU Former Students Association College Teaching Award.
After receiving his B.S. degree from Texas A&M in 1967, Dr. Joe earned his doctoral degree from Iowa State University. Following 10 years of teaching high school, as well as three at Iowa State and at Illinois State University, he joined the faculty at A&M in 1984.
The Northwest Harris County Aggie Moms Club meets the second Tuesday of each month (September thru May) at The Houston Distributing Company at 7100 High Life Drive Houston TX 77066. Social time begins at 7 pm with meeting starting at 7:30 p.m. |
